Experienced Machinist

Based in Blandford, our client is a well established and successful manufacturer and they are looking to appoint a Experienced Machinist to join the team in the machine shop.
The Machinist will operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks.
Producing or repairing precision parts using both manual and semi-automated turning and milling equipment and accurate measurements.
The Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Required Skills
Ideally the candidate has completed an apprenticeship in Toolmaking /machinist or equivalent years’ experience/knowledge
Must have experience using Lathes, Milling Machines and can read/interpret engineering drawings.
Previous experience of working within a Production environment
Good hand-to-eye co-ordination
Attention to detail
Accuracy
Good verbal and written communication skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent maths and bench skills
Roles and responsibilities
Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometres or Vernier callipers.
Calculate dimensions of work pieces, products, or equipment.
Measure dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
Operate grinding equipment.
Operate cutting equipment.
Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometres.
Measure dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
